🎟️ How to Register and Log In to Bid with ClickBid

ClickBid’s Register to Bid feature allows guests to create their own bidder profiles before your auction opens. This saves you time and makes it easier for supporters to jump into the bidding once your event begins. Here's how to guide your bidders through the registration and login process smoothly.


⚙️ Enable Bidder Registration on Your Landing Page

  1. Go to Software Settings > Auction Settings > Bidder Settings.

  2. Set Allow Bidder Registration to yes using the dropdown.

  3. Share your Landing Page URL/QR Code with supporters via email or other communication channels to allow them to register. You can find your Landing Page URL and QR code on the home screen under the Important Links section.

This feature lets guests self-register before the auction begins, reducing your admin workload.


🎟️ How Bidders Register Before the Event

  1. Navigate to the organization's Landing Page.

  2. Click Sign In/Sign Up

    1. Desktop Viewthis will be located in the upper right corner of the landing page 
    2. Mobile View: this will be located in the menu. Click the menu icon in the top right corner, and Sign In/Sign Up will display at the bottom of the menu.
  3. Enter a phone number or email address, then click Continue.

    If no bidder account is located with these details, you will be asked to create a bidder account by completing the registration form.
  4. Complete the registration form and click Continue.

    • The bidder will immediately receive a welcome email and a welcome text if opted in.

    • If the event is open, you will be sent a log in code. There is no username or password setup required. 

📝 Customize the Welcome Message

  • Go to Software Settings > Auction Settings > Bidder Settings to customize the Welcome Email.

    • Note: Shortcodes are not supported in this email.

  • Go to Software Settings > Auction Settings > Butler Settings to edit the Welcome Text.

    • You can include shortcodes like bidder name and bidding URL here.

Use shortcodes in your welcome text to personalize the message and include direct links to bidding.


⚠️ Text Message Opt-In Limitations

  • If a guest unsubscribes from texts, they won't receive:

    • Mass messages

    • Welcome text during registration

    • Check-in text messages

  • They will still receive:

    • Welcome emails

    • Outbid alerts via email

Guests who opt out of texts may miss important auction updates. Encourage them to stay opted in. Guests can opt-in again by texting START to 855-800-4975.


⚙️ Additional Registration Requirements

Require an Address:

  1. Go to Software Settings > Auction Settings > Bidder Settings.

  2. Toggle Require Address to Yes.

Require a Credit Card:

  1. Go to Software Settings > Auction Settings > Bidder Settings.

  2. Toggle Require Credit Card Information to Yes.

     

A ZIP Code will be required when adding card information. If a bidder sees an error with their ZIP code, the system couldn’t verify the ZIP with the card provider. They should confirm the billing ZIP with their bank.


🔁 Logging In with a One-Time Code

ClickBid uses one-time login codes instead of passwords. Bidders will only receive their code once the auction is open.

  1. Go to the Landing Page and enter a phone number or email, then click Continue.

  2. A login code will be sent to the entered contact method.

  3. Enter the code and you will be redirected back to the event's Landing Page.

Login codes are sent only when the auction is open.


✅ Login Code Behavior

  • Codes expire after 15 minutes.

  • Requesting a new code makes the old one invalid.

  • Bidders stay logged in for 14 days unless they log out.

  • If logged out, they must request a new code.

  • If a guest signs in on a different device or browser, a new code is required.

You can view a bidder’s most recent unused code by searching their name in the Butler.


🚫 Common Login Issues & Fixes

  • No text received?

    • Try logging in with email.

    • Text START to 855-800-4975 to resubscribe to messages.

    • Contact the guest’s cell provider if issues persist.

  • No email received?

    • Check Spam/Junk folders.

Be sure to log out of the bidding site if you're testing the setup before your event. Staying logged in can hide the Register Now button from the landing page.
