🏷️ How to Use Custom Bidder Tags in ClickBid
sCustom bidder tags are a simple way to organize and label your guests based on important details—like VIP status, meal preferences, or team roles. You can also use tags to send targeted text messages to specific groups. Here's how to create, manage, and use bidder tags effectively in ClickBid.
âž• Creating a Custom Bidder Tag

Go to the Bidders tab and click Manage Bidders.
- Scroll down past the Bidder list and Batch Update sections until you see the Custom Tags area.

In the Tag Name field, type in your desired tag(s) you'd like to create (e.g.,
VIP
,meal choice
,swag bag
). -
Click Create Tag.
Use clear and consistent naming conventions for tags (like all lowercase or title case) to keep things easy to read and search.
🏷️Assigning Bidder Tags
Once tags have been created, they can be applied manually to bidders via the Manage Bidders page, using the Batch Update section.
- Go to Bidders > Manage Bidders.
- Select the checkbox next to the bidder(s) you wish to assign a tag to.
- Scroll down past the list of bidders to the Batch Update section.
- Select the Assign Custom Tag check box.
- Click the Select Custom Tag dropdown and choose the tag you'd like to assign.
- Click the blue Update button to save your changes.
✏️ Editing an Existing Tag

On the Manage Bidders screen, navigate to the Custom Tags are again below the Batch Update section.

Click Edit Tags.

Click the pencil icon next to the tag you want to change.

Update the name in the field that appears.

Click Update Tag, then Finish Editing to save your changes.

Editing a tag updates it everywhere it’s applied—no need to reassign.
You can edit tags at any time, even after they’ve been applied to bidders.
🗑️ Deleting Tags You No Longer Need

Click Delete Tags in the Custom Tags area on the Manage Bidders page.

Click the trash can icon next to the tag you want to remove.

Click OK to confirm, and Finish Deleting when you're done deleting tags.

This will remove the tag from all bidders it was assigned to.
Deleting a tag is permanent and cannot be undone. Be sure it’s not tied to messaging or reporting before removing.
âś… Predefined System Tags (Automatically Applied)
ClickBid also includes built-in bidder tags that update based on actions your bidders take:

Logged In – The bidder has logged into the bidding site.

Checked In – The bidder was marked as attending using Mobile Check-In or the Butler.

Remote – The bidder chose not to attend in person but will participate remotely.
-
Has Bids – The bidder has placed at least one bid on any item.

Prt/Email Stmt – Use this tag to quickly print or email a bidder statement.

Has CC – Indicates the bidder has a credit card on file.

Ticket – This person is a ticket purchaser.
You don’t need to manually apply these tags—they’re automatically assigned based on bidder activity.
📲 Using Tags to Send Targeted Messages
This function is only available if you have access to our Mass Messaging feature which is included in the Enhanced and Full Suite licenses.
You can filter and message specific groups based on the tags you’ve assigned. This applies to both the Text Bidders and Email Bidders features. For this example, we'll walk through Text Bidders.

Go to Bidders >Text Bidders.

Click Compose a Text.

Click Select a Filter.

Choose Bidder Tags from the dropdown.

If only one tag exists, it will automatically populate.
-
If multiple tags exist, you'll see a list to choose from.
Select the tags you want to message.

Compose your message and click Send Text Now, or click Save to Composed Texts to either send later, or schedule to go out automatically at a later date.
Use bidder tags to remind VIPs about perks, confirm meal selections, or reach past participants with a personalized note.
