🔍 How to Use QR Codes for Guest Check-In
📲 QR Code Check-In Guide
QR codes offer a fast and contactless way to check in guests at your event. With ClickBid, you can enable QR codes on ticket receipts and scan them at check-in to quickly pull up guest information. This guide walks you through how to turn on QR codes, use them at check-in, and resend them if needed.
⚙️ How to Enable QR Codes on Ticket Receipts
Follow these steps to include QR codes on all ticket purchase confirmations:
-
Go to the Event Tickets section.
-
Click Ticket Page Settings.
-
Scroll to Additional Features.
-
Set Show QR Code? to Yes.
Once this is enabled, QR codes will automatically appear on ticket purchaser receipts.
-
If you turned this on after tickets were already sent, QR codes will still show—but you’ll need to resend the receipts or use a mass message to send them out.
ℹ️Info: QR codes are added to each ticket receipt automatically once the setting is turned on. You don’t need to generate them manually.
💡Tip: Turn this on early in your event setup so all ticket confirmations include QR codes from the start.
🎟️ Using the QR Code at Check-In
Once your guests arrive, you can scan their QR code using the Butler tool:
-
In the Butler, click Scan QR Code.
2. Have your guest display the QR code from their ticket receipt.
3. If prompted, allow camera access on your device.
4. Scan the QR code with your device’s camera.
Once scanned:
-
The system will pull up the bidder profile linked to the code.
-
Everyone associated with the ticket purchase (e.g., guests on a group ticket) will appear on screen for check-in.
ℹ️Info: QR codes work on both printed and digital tickets.
🔁 Resending the QR Code to Guests and Purchasers
If you need to resend QR codes after purchase:
-
Click Bidders in the admin.
-
Click Text Bidders or Email Bidders.
-
Click Compose a Text.
-
In the message body, type the shortcode [gqr].
-
This shortcode generates the guest’s QR code link automatically.
-
It only works when used with these filters:
-
Ticket Purchasers
-
Ticketed Guests
-
Ticketed Guests with No Bidder Number
-
⚠️ Warning: The QR shortcode will not work if you're sending a message to just one bidder. It must be used with one of the supported group filters.
🧾 Final Notes
-
Be sure your staff is familiar with how to scan QR codes using the Butler.
-
Recommend guests have their QR codes ready (on phones or printed) at the door for quicker check-in.
-
If you experience scanning issues, verify camera access is granted on your device.
