🎥 Troubleshooting Video Streaming for EventStream

Having trouble with your camera or microphone when using ClickBid’s Live Broadcast feature? This guide walks through common video streaming issues and how to fix them — especially when using Google Chrome on Windows.

⚠️ Chrome Error: “Cannot Connect to Web Camera/Audio Device”

This typically occurs when your browser doesn’t have permission to access your camera or microphone.

✅ What to Do:

  1. Go to:
    Event Central > Live Broadcast

  2. If you see an alert box saying it can't connect, click OK

  3. If prompted, click Allow when Chrome asks for permission to access your camera and microphone

  4. If no prompt appears:

    • Look for a video camera icon in the top-right corner of your browser’s address bar

    • Click it and select Allow

    • Click Done

💡Tip: Without permissions enabled, your camera will not display in the preview window.

🧰 If You Still Can’t Access Your Camera

The issue might be caused by Windows Security or antivirus software blocking your camera or microphone.

🔧 Fixing It in Windows Settings:

  1. Open Settings > Privacy

  2. Under App permissions, go to:

    • Camera

    • Click Change and ensure Camera access is turned ON

  3. Repeat the same process under the Microphone tab

  4. Restart your computer and recheck in EventStream

🌐 Enable Camera & Microphone Access in Chrome

If Chrome is blocking your hardware, you may see a Hardware access error. Here’s how to fix that:

🔍 In Chrome Settings:

  1. Click the Menu (⋮) icon in Chrome

  2. Select Settings

  3. In the search bar, type: Content Settings

  4. Click on Content Settings from the search results

  5. Click Camera

    • Make sure “Ask before accessing” is turned ON (not Blocked)

  6. Check the Block and Allow lists

    • Ensure that important sites like your ClickBid event are not blocked

  7. Repeat steps for Microphone

    • Select your default microphone array

    • If using a third-party mic, make sure it’s selected here

  8. Close and restart Chrome

🛠️ Tip: These settings control whether your browser can access your video/audio hardware. Updates or third-party extensions may reset these settings.

✅ Summary

Make sure your browser and operating system both allow camera/microphone access. Once fixed:

  • Your camera preview will load in EventStream

  • You’ll be able to broadcast live without delays
