📬How to Add a Shipping Charge to a Bidder in ClickBid

📦 How to Add a Shipping Charge to a Bidder

Need to add a shipping charge for an item after the auction? Whether you're mailing physical goods or bundling packages post-event, ClickBid lets you easily apply shipping costs to a bidder’s invoice using an invisible item and the Butler.

⚙️ Step 1: Create a Shipping Charge Item

Before applying a shipping fee, you’ll need to create a hidden item that represents the shipping charge.

  1. Go to Items in the admin menu.

  2. Click Manage Items.

  3. Click Add Item.

     4. Set the Item Status to Invisible — this keeps the item hidden from the public bidding               site.

     5. Set the Item Type to:

    • Quantity if you want to predefine the shipping charge.

    • Live if you want to enter custom shipping amounts per bidder later in the Butler.

ℹ️Info: A Quantity item lets you use a fixed fee from a dropdown. A Live item allows for flexible, custom shipping amounts.

➕ Step 2: Add the Shipping Charge in the Butler

Once your shipping item is created, head to the Butler to apply it to the appropriate bidder.

  1. Go to Event Central.

  2. Click Butler.

  3. In the Add a Bid/Multi-Sale section, type the bidder’s name.

  4. Type the item name or number of your shipping item.

     5. Depending on your item type:

    • If it's a Live item, type in the shipping amount manually. Above example is using the live item type.

    • If it's a Quantity item, select the charge from the dropdown menu.

💡Tip: This feature is especially useful post-event when shipping fees are calculated separately from auction winnings.

🔁 Billing Flexibility

  • You can charge bidders for their auction winnings first, then add a shipping charge later.

  • The shipping fee will appear as a separate line item on their invoice.

⚠️ Warning: Be sure to communicate clearly with bidders if you’re charging them in multiple steps to avoid confusion.
