➕ Setting Up a Paddle Raise Item/Donation Appeal Display
A Fund-A-Need (also called a paddle raise or direct ask) is a great way to inspire real-time giving at your event. Setting it up in ClickBid ensures your donation levels, display, and donor recognition all run smoothly.
🛠️ How to Create a Fund-A-Need Item
-
Go to Items > Manage Items in your admin menu.
-
Click Add Item.
-
Change the Item Type to Donation.
-
Under the Denomination section, enter the giving levels your auctioneer will call out during the appeal (e.g., $1,000, $500, $100).
Enter your most common giving levels in descending order to make live giving fast and smooth.
🎥 Customize the Appeal Display Settings
Once your item is created, you can tailor what shows on screen during your paddle raise:
-
Click Projected Display Settings within the item setup.
-
Choose what to display on the screen and customize your theme:
-
Donation Goal to show your progress
-
Donor Names to celebrate gifts in real time
-
Sponsor Logos for visibility
-
Buffer to include offline or pre-event donations
-
Animation Theme to add energy to the display
-
These display options help keep donors engaged and encourage participation during the appeal.
🔗 Sharing the Appeal Display
To run or share the live appeal screen:
-
Copy the Appeal Display Share Link found under Projected Display Settings.
If the share link does not display here, you may need to refresh your browser window after the item is created.
-
Open the link in a new browser tab or send it to your A/V team to show on screen.
Have the Appeal Display ready and tested before your paddle raise begins—it’s your visual scoreboard!
