Want to collect important info like team names, t-shirt sizes, or dietary restrictions during ticket purchases? ClickBid’s Custom Question feature makes it easy to ask ticket buyers the questions that matter most for your event.


🧠 What Are Custom Questions?

Use Custom Questions to gather personalized details from your ticket purchasers, such as:

  • 👕 T-Shirt Size / Color

  • 🍔 Meal / Drink Preferences

  • 🚫 Allergy or Dietary Restrictions

  • 🎉 Team Name / Captain

  • 🪑 Table Placement or Decoration

  • 🔞 Age Requirements

  • 💼 Sponsorship Display Name

  • 🛍️ Swag Bag Choices

  • …and more!

🛠️ Step-by-Step: Setting Up a Custom Question

1. Select a Ticket Type

Go to Event Tickets > Modify Tickets and select the ticket you want to apply the custom question to.


2. Is the Question Active?

Under the question settings:

  • Yes – Guests will see and answer this question

  • No – The question is hidden from guests

ℹ️ Info: Use “No” to temporarily disable a question without deleting it.


3. Choose a Response Type

✍️ Option 1: Text Response

  • Question Text: Enter the question you want to ask.

  • Guests type in a custom answer.

✅ Best for open-ended responses like "What is your team name?" or "Do you have any allergies?"

🔽 Option 2: Drop-Down Response

  • Question Text: Enter your question.

  • Available Options: Add preset answers for guests to choose from.

  • ✅ Best for structured responses like "Meal Choice" or "Shirt Size"

⚠️ Warning: Available options are limited to 200 characters each.


4. Is an Answer Required?

  • Yes – Guests must answer the question before checking out

  • No – Guests can skip the question

💡 Tip: Use required questions for essentials like dietary needs or age confirmation.


5. Apply to All Guests? (Drop-Down Only)

  • No, apply to ticket sale only – Info will show in reports but not linked to individual guests

  • Yes – Question applies to each guest and creates a custom tag in their bidder profile


🏷️ Tag Responses with Custom Tags (Drop-Down Only)

You can turn guest responses into custom tags on their bidder profile.

🧩 Set Up Custom Tags

  1. Go to Bidders > Manage Bidders > Custom Tags

  2. Enter a Tag Name and click Create Tag

  3. Create all tag options before assigning them to questions

🔗 Assign Tags to Drop-Down Options

  • In the question setup, after adding your Available Options, assign each one a tag.

  • Tags connect guest responses to bidder records.

  • These tags appear in reports and the Butler.

⚠️ Warning: You must create tags first before you can assign them


📊 Reporting on Custom Questions

All custom questions and their responses will appear in the:

  • Ticket Sales Report (in the admin dashboard)

  • CSV Export for in-depth analysis

ℹ️ Info: If multiple questions are used, each guest’s responses will be included in one row per ticket.
